VP’s Message

Letter from the Interim Vice Provost

Dr. Steven P. Girardot

I am very pleased to share our 2020-21 Impact Report for the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE). This report shows OUE’s contribution to the Institute’s goals and mission by describing our activities, highlights, trends, and key accomplishments over the past academic year.

This was a year of transition, innovation, and collaboration in OUE. As a community, we reimagined how we serve, communicate, learn, teach, and work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite our challenges, we remained focused on the Institute’s core value: “Students are our top priority,” and that commitment shines through in our goals.

We chose to frame this year’s report around the Institute’s six strategic focus areas: Amplify Impact, Champion Innovation, Connect Globally, Expand Access, Cultivate Well-Being, and Lead By Example.

The stories within showcase OUE’s impact on campus and are supported by quotes from students who have used our services. We expanded offerings, created new programs, reached out to students in new ways, and took extra steps to provide development opportunities for OUE staff.

Some highlights from the past year:

I am extremely proud of OUE and our faculty and staff’s dedication to providing meaningful programs and services for Georgia Tech’s students—even in the midst of uncertainty. We have also reaffirmed and strengthened or commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and made it a priority to ensure that these inform our practices each day. I believe that we are a stronger organization because of this engagement.

In closing, I once again invite to you to learn more about OUE’s staff, programs, and services in this report. I look forward to partnering with you to build on our mission to support our students. Please do not hesitate to reach out to connect and collaborate.

Warmly,
Steven P. Girardot

Interim Vice Provost
